4 Questions to Ask Yourself (This Week)

4 Questions to Ask Yourself (This Week)

  1. Am I listening to my gut?

I never have regretted listening to my gut, and when I don’t 99.9% of the time I end up kicking myself for it. For example: A couple of months ago I was going home from dinner and a man pulled up and asked me to get in his car… he was “uber”. He also did not have the uber sticker and couldn’t tell me how to find him on the app. Finally, I told him “no, thanks”, driving away he screamed at me while driving off. Um, I was floored. I always remember this the next time my gut (Holy Spirit) is poking at me!

2. Why Am I, Where I Am?

About every 6 months to a year, (randomly) I will ask myself, “Wow, what am I doing with ____ in my life?”.  Every once in a while, never fail to ask yourself why you are where you are. In the past, I’ve asked myself this questions like: why do I organize the house frantically to procrastinate?, why do I keep trying to make difficult people happy?, why am I single? why do I react that way? or why am I not giving myself grace? Sometimes it only take minutes to solve and sometimes it’s a journey to figure out “why”.

3. Why am I Trying to Please Everyone?

I have never labeled myself as a people pleaser, until I married the least people pleasing person on the planet (with people he does not know). I would come home and be so concerned about X, and he would say, you just need to be concerned with keeping your side of the street clean. There is no way on this planet I will be able to please everyone and it’s OK if you are not everyone’s cup of tea.

4. Am I returning again to what has not worked in the past?

What’s the definition of insanity? Oh yeah, doing the same thing over and over again. Sometimes it takes me bashing my head into the wall and doing the same thing 200 million times to realize…. hello, find a different way! Questions to ask when going back to something that hasn’t worked: Am I different in some way that would make this work? 2. is the other person or persons different in some way that this would work? 3. Is the situation different?
